When you collect your new Tesla, it's tempting to just drive off. But a calm inspection at delivery ensures any cosmetic issues are noted right away. Take your time, and use this checklist — ideally with your camera ready.
Exterior
- Paint: check for scratches, stone chips and uneven finish in good light.
- Panel gaps: look for even gaps between panels, doors and bumpers.
- Tyres and wheels: correct type, no damage, matching pattern.
- Glass and lights: no cracks, condensation or faults.
Interior
- Seats and trim: no stains, tears or defects.
- Screen(s): turns on correctly, responsive, no dead pixels.
- Functions: test windows, doors, climate, lights and sound.
- Equipment: that included cables/key cards are present.
Charging and account
- Charge port: opens/closes and seats correctly.
- Account/app: the car is linked to your account in the Tesla app.
- Referral benefit: check your account for any Supercharging credits/account credit in the days after — the benefit should have been registered on the order beforehand.
Smart to do
Take photos of the car at delivery, and note any faults before you sign. Minor cosmetic items can often be agreed for later correction — get it in writing.
Afterwards
Once you're home, go through the beginner guide for the first settings, and read about charging to get off to a good start. Enjoy the car!
